Interview with Indie Designer, Heather Flottman of liliputians NYC!
Today, The Silly Wagon introduces the first in a series of interviews with our designers! We don't just want you to wear the clothes, we want you to know the thoughts and inspiration that go into those special outfits! Tell us about yourself. I'm Heather Flottmann, owner and driving force behind the boutique clothing label liliputians NYC. What made you want to create, did you always know you wanted to do something creative? I've always had the urge and talent for being creative, albeit I've dabbled in many different media (ceramics, drawing, painting, découpage, interior design) before settling down with a sketch pad, sewing machine and fabric as my paint and canvas. My daugher Lily reawakened my creative drive and was the motivation for starting liliputians. Whats your favorite food? Spicy Vegetable Pad Thai from Planet Thailand in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY - Yummy! What inspires you? My 3-year old daughter Lily. She keeps things fun, helps me see things in a new fresh light, and is my muse and inspiration. What your favorite word to say? liliputians! If you could teach a child one thing, what would it be? I would teach them to always believe in oneself and to reach for the stars.Do you consider yourself to be a Silly Wagon? (if you haven't yet figured out what that is, read ourABOUT page) Absolutely! I've always been one to march to my own beat. I like color, quirky-ness, and funkiness in my life. I think I would definitely be considered a Silly Wagon.Thank you so much, Heather After seeing your Viva Las Vegas outfit as well as the Frida Kahlo Jeans set, we would have to agree...You are a Silly Wagon! See liliputians cutest designers here on The Silly Wagon on June 1st!! Does your little one have a BIG birthday coming up? Celebrate in style, have them wear a liliputians NYC original birthday outfit!!~Whitney
I found this on The Mommy Blog, so I wanted to share the cute-ness.
If it is on, I must turn it off. If it is off, I must turn it on. If it is folded, I must unfold it. If it is a liquid, it must be shaken, then spilled. If it is solid, it must be crumbled, chewed or smeared. If it is high, it must be reached. If it is shelved, it must be removed. If it is in the trash, it must be removed, inspected, and thrown on the floor. If it is closed, it must be opened. If it is open, it must be closed at maximum strength, hopefully it will make a BANG, if not, try again. If it does not open, it must be screamed at. If it is a pen, it must write on the wall, monitor, or sister. If it is full, it will be more interesting emptied. If it is empty, it will be more interesting full. If Mommy's hands are full, I must be carried. If Mommy is in a hurry and wants to carry me, I must walk alone, as slow as possible and touch everything I come across. If Mommy ignores me, I must scream it louder, she obviously didn't hear me. If it has buttons, they must be pressed. If the volume is low, it must go high. If it is toilet paper, it must be used to clog the toilet and then used to wipe the mirror. If it has a faucet, it must be turned on at full force. Getting soaked earns bonus points. If it is a phone, I must talk to it, unless grandma is on it and wants to chat, then it must be abandoned immediately. If it is not food, it must be tasted. If it IS food, it must not be tasted. If it is dry, it must be made wet with drool, milk, or toilet water. If it is a car seat, it must be protested with arched back. If it is Mommy, it must be hugged.

Made U Look, Mommy!! Womens Tee Shirts!
Super fun, really cute and the MOST amazing feeling cotton t-shirt I have ever laid my hands on. When the kids got their Made U Look t-shirts the other day, I was so jealous that I kept rubbing them to feel how buttery they are!!(Yes, the entire kid, with the t-shirt on, against my face!) We also have a Tank Top called Cherry Bomb...and it is, the bomb that is!! The picture is of the actual image on the tank itself although the "tank" is a drawing. The tank top is a ribbed knit, like the great "wife beaters" (I am sure some guy, who thought he was being very funny, thought that one up!) Anyway, it's really cute and I think it may be a summer favorite for me! They fit snug but true to size and they aren't super short! Shrinkage is very, very minimal on these, due to Made U Look's signature Butter Wash treatment! If you have subscribed to the Blog but not the Newsletter, or vice versa please make sure you do that before we open! Each will have some of their own unique and special updates and info. If you can't figure out how to do that...email me. No worries, I barely know how to type and I ask for LOTS of help on the computer!

Hey Mommy, It's Your Day!!
Happy Mothers Day! We here at The Silly Wagon appreciate everything you do for your families! We know how hard you work, how hard you play and how much it takes just to get them all out the door everyday (hopefully with their shoes on the right feet, lunches satisfactory for cafeteria room trading, and sharp, unbroken crayons standing at attention, snug in their boxes!)
Enjoy YOUR day, let them pamper you and hug and kiss you! As our Little Man Jack said to me just this morning "Happy Smothers Day, Mommy! Be-qwuz we love you!" I think that says it all, don't you!! ~Whitney, The Silliest Wagon of Them All!
